Choose this caffeinated beverage for an energy boost!

With energy drinks being a billion dollar food industry, it is quite obvious that people are tired and looking for ways to stay awake. Sure I can tell you getting 7-8 hours of sleep and awaking without an alarm is healthiest, but I know for most people this isn’t practical. There aren’t enough hours in the day to do all the things we want to do so I’d like to tell you about the best source of caffeine— this way you can stay healthy as you drink your way to stimulation.

It’s Green Tea! You may have already guessed it because this superfood has built up quite a reputation for itself. This is my choice for antioxidant benefits and anytime I need a little boost of energy.

A recent study compared green tea, black tea, and coffee and they found that green tea was the only caffeinated beverage to reduce the risk of cognitive decline, aka decreased memory loss and dementia, which are considered a natural part of the aging process— but maybe they don’t have to be if we take advantage of the medicinal foods available to us!

Green tea aids the immune system in prevention against cancers and other illnesses, as well as decreases inflammation in the body.

My two favorite green teas are Genmaicha and Matcha Lattes. Matcha Green Tea is known to have even higher antioxidant properties than regular green tea.

My nutritionally savvy friend Miranda got me into Matcha Lattes with her at home recipe using this Matcha Powder. Just add water and these to taste:

  • Organic Soy Creamer

  • Almond milk

  • A few drops of Stevia or Honey
