Be Moved!

As the weekend approaches, I invite you to dance! Let go. Be free. Move your body to a rhythm that excites you. Doctor's orders!

Yes, I know, this may sound like an odd request, yet, I bet you won't regret it. The other day my friend messaged me saying she needed to go out dancing. The interesting thing is that this isn't the first time I've heard someone express the NEED to dance. If we look back at records from the beginning of mankind, dance has always been a significant part of life, whether it be celebration or ceremony. It is still a major staple in some Latin American and African cultures, however, it has seemed to lose importance in others. Many countries look at dancing as something for the young folk or as "partying," but in reality, dance is therapy.
Just as painting is a form of therapy, so is dancing. It is a time to express yourself and let go. The movements allow you to release any tension you may be holding in the body. You can't deny the positive, uplifting effects it has on the mind, body, and spirit. Any time you may be feeling down, blast your favorite song and invite yourself to dance. The endorphins you release will leave you feeling oh. so. good.

"I totally regret that freeing, uplifting dance interlude."
