People come into our lives for a reason.

As the saying goes, “People come into our lives for a lesson, a season, or a lifetime.” Every relationship- be it friendship, romance, or family- has a purpose to help one or both people grow. Even if a relationship left you with heartache or tears, I bet if you really think about it, there were lessons to be learned like self-love or self-worth. Maybe a relationship motivated you to become an even better version of yourself. I know people who went on to build businesses and achieve success, just to prove to a person who doubted them that they could do it. In other relationships, maybe you learned to become a better listener; maybe you learned a new skill. The interesting thing is that you continue to attract similar people into your life until you learn the lesson, then it is time for new lessons and new people. As you evolve, so do the dynamics of your relationships, both new and old. In some cases, maybe you learned nothing at all, and in those instances, maybe you touched that person’s heart and helped them in some way. Are there any people that have come into your life and left the impression “Because I knew you, I have been changed for good,” if so, take a moment to send them some love…

Here’s a beautiful performance by Anna Kendrick And Kristin Chenoweth of the song “For Good” from the Broadway Show Wicked. It gave me chills! The opening lyrics share a similar sentiment:

“I've heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason
Bringing something we must learn
And we are led
To those who help us most to grow
If we let them
And we help them in return
Well, I don't know if I believe that's true
But I know I'm who I am today
Because I knew you...”
