The struggle is a part of the journey. It plays a pivotal role in the story of life. Struggle is what makes this dance of life what it is. The greatest stories of all time involve a major struggle to overcome.
Don’t worry, you’re not alone! No matter what, we will all face struggle–it’s a natural part of life.
We need to experience struggle in order to experience joy.
I have struggle in my life. The struggle continues to be a gift on my path. The struggle causes pain, suffering, uneasiness and stress. And these feelings have caused me to seek and search. I seek for solutions to create more peace and harmony. I search for ways to ease the pain and suffering.
It’s also important to note that even though the obstacles and challenges appear to be happening externally, the source of the struggle is internal.
Though difficult to see–suffering is a choice.
Suffering is a self-limiting way of being many times passed down from our parents and upbringing without us even knowing it. Suffering occurs when we have wounds that need to be healed. It is our perception of reality and the choices we make that cause us to feel suffering.
This realization inspired my commitment to personal healing–both for myself and as a service for those called to work with me. I continue to learn to overcome suffering through dedicated healing in body, mind and spirit. And this has been my path to self discovery and awakening.
The spiritual journey is a commitment to healing the body, mind and spirit of wounds. It is also about dissolving any self-limiting patterns so that we can fully embody the truest essence of our being, which is love.
What I have found to be the most important part of the journey is the support I have received from teachers, healers and mentors.
Sure there exists the support of family and friends, but this support is biased. It can oftentimes be restricting for several reasons. For example, honesty can be sacrificed because our loved ones just want to see us happy. Or some tensions may exist within relationships making it difficult to hear any lessons or advice coming from those near and dear.
We all want to be happy. We all want to live the life of our dreams.
So how do we do it? How do we overcome the struggle? How do we choose happiness?
We all know the saying, “You can lead a camel to water, but you can’t make him drink.”
Believe it or not, most people know what is NOT in their best interest, but they choose it anyway.
A commitment to healing, growing, learning and evolving must be made.
The first step is admitting there are areas in life we wish to enhance. The second step is setting the intention to make it happen. The third step is integrity–committing, showing up, doing the work and following through.
No matter how strong and smart we think we are, the journey cannot happen alone. Humans are beings of connection. We learn from each other. Even the seeking hermit and the greatest of teachers have had teachers, healers, mentors, books, courses, trainings, etc. helping them along the way.
If we choose to be open and receive guidance, a support system will organically present itself once we set the intention and make the commitment to choose happiness.
The journey to overcome suffering is an active one. Choosing happiness is an active process too. Tools, practices and techniques shared by teachers, mentors and healers is how we elevate our being, overcome suffering, heal wounds and dissolve self-limiting patterns.
The implementation of these toolsand practices combined with the willingness to learn and evolve results in progress, life enhancement and happiness along the journey.
