Work hard. Play harder.
How is your work life balance? I am truly a believer in working hard to play harder. Some of the most successful people I know, are some of the most fun people I know. Makes sense to me because if you're depressed because you're working all the time and can't enjoy the amazing things in life, how can you possibly be inspired to create and serve?
Luckily I've always managed to keep a great balance. I traveled a lot of the world during medical school and when I worked long hours in the hospital I still found time to try new things and to play. My colleagues were always dumbfounded and didn't understand how I could do it. The thing is, I had to do it in order to keep myself inspired. Usually the days after a fun time out were my best and most productive. I enjoyed work the more I play.
Recently, I've been throwing my heart into my work. Since I do what I am the lines between work and play have become somewhat blurred. I still notice that when I choose to go out even if a part of me is a bit tired after a long day of clients, I'm my best self when I take the time to play. Yes, life is about making your dreams a reality and working hard to make it happen. But what's the point of it all if you're not having fun?
