Get uncomfortable
This morning I woke up in Woodstock to wonderful silence and a winter wonderland outside my window. Excitement filled my chest at the thought that this is where I will be spending the next three days for another happiness retreat. This morning I taught yoga to someone who never did it before and it is always a challenge to push people out of their comfort zone. When we step out of our comfort zone, that’s where we grow, that’s where magic happens. Soon enough all the worries, insecurities, and fears we once had begin to melt away and we realize everything is going to be just fine.
So after the morning session, I decided to get uncomfortable and go out and play in the snow with no pants on because I like doing fun, spontaneous things that feed my inner child. Taking that first leap into the snow was scary; I hesitated just thinking about the ice against my skin. But I figured what the heck, so I took a deep breath, plunged in, and soon enough I got used to it. In fact, it was beautifully invigorating and I felt so free! By the end I was happily laying on the ground make snow angels forgetting all about my fear of the cold.
In order to begin expanding the boundaries of our comfort zone and releasing any fears that may be holding us back from living the life we want and deserve, we can choose to do something every day that scares us. Maybe it’s mucking up the courage to say, “I love you” to someone. Maybe it’s asking your boss for a raise. Maybe it's going to a yoga class for the first time. Whatever it is that you have wanted to do that’s out of your comfort zone, just do it! When we stare fear in the face and continue to overcome it, soon enough there will be nothing left to face. Live your truth, get out of your comfort zone, be fearless, and just have fun! #bethebestyou
